New Lawn Starter QUICK START FOR NEW LAWNS DIRECTIONS FOR USE Dear Folks:
We recommend ferilome NEW LAWN STARTER because out many years of experience have proven it to be especially useful for getting new lwans growing vigorously and for promoting rich green grass 1 WHAT IS THIS PACKAGE FOR? fertilome NEW LAWN STARTER provides an excellent source of the guaranteed plant nutrients needed in new lawns for vigorous, rich green growth. 2. HOW DO YOU USE IT? A. Work soil 3-5 inches deep to proper grade to insure good drainage... a prong rake is ideal for the purpose. Avoid leaving low areas in the lawn where water may stand. B. Apply fertilome NEW LAWN STARTER using spreader settings in the table below. Work fertilome NEW LAWN STARTER in the top 2-3 inches of soil. C. Seed uniformly at the rate suggested on the seed package. Best results can be obtained with a fertilizer spreader. If desired, mix seed with cleen top soil, sand, vermiculite or other carrier for a uniform application. After seed application, cover the seed to a depth of 1/4 inch... turning a flexible tine rake upside down and dragging lightly across the seeded area is ideal for this purpose. D. Water gently... the secret to successful seed germination is to water gently with a fine mist twice daily, keeping seeds contantly moist (not wet) until seeds germinate. FOR NEW LAWNS-SODDED AND SPRIGGED PREPARATIONS: A. Work the soil 3-5 inches deep to a proper grade. Apply fertilome NEW LAWN STARTER using the spreader settings in the table below and work into the top 2-3 inches of the soil. B. Sod or sprig as desired. C. Water thoroughly after sodding or sprigging. Keep soil constantly moist for several weeks after application or until new grass is securely rooted. Do not keep soil saturated with water. SPREADER GUIDE ONE BAG WILL COVER UP TO 2,500 SQUARE FEET These settings can be used only as a guide, they are not absolute. The speed at which the applicator walks, spreader condition and the texture of the turf will alter the rate of application. If product remains in spreader after application to recommended square foot coverage, spread remainder over same area going at right angles.
